Alex Napier, Vice President

Coming from a multi-generational family of scientists and doctors, Alex surprised them all by entering the field of education.  Her love of science began in sixth grade when she learned the scientific process while competing in the school science fair.  She continued entering projects into the fair, eventually earning a spot to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair her senior year.  Along the way she interned at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, working alongside scientists in the study of field Ecology.  She later earned a B.S. in biology from Washington State University and has a M.S. in plant genetics from Texas A and M University.  From her formative years and now as a middle school science teacher she knows it's not the branch of science being taught, but the ability to spark curiosity and a desire for deeper inquiry that create a lifelong passion for science in her students. She is grateful for the opportunities and helping hands she's had along the way and for this chance to help young women achieve their aspirations.
